Wedding Checklist

Everything You Need to Do Before Your Wedding Day

Planning a wedding is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Between booking vendors, managing your guest list, choosing attire, and coordinating countless details, it’s easy to wonder if you’ve forgotten something important.

The good news? Every wedding doesn’t have to be perfect—it just needs a thoughtful plan.

After photographing weddings throughout New York and Long Island for more than a decade, I’ve found that the most relaxed couples aren’t the ones who never encounter challenges. They’re the ones who stay organized, make decisions early, and focus on enjoying the experience rather than chasing perfection.

Use this checklist as your roadmap from engagement to “I do.”

A Final Thought

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned after documenting hundreds of weddings is that couples rarely remember whether every timeline detail went exactly as planned.

What they remember are the hugs from family, the laughter with friends, the quiet moments before the ceremony, and the joy of celebrating together.

This checklist isn’t about creating a perfect wedding. It’s about giving yourself the freedom to enjoy one of the most meaningful days of your life with confidence, knowing the important details have already been taken care of.

F.A.Q

What should I do first after getting engaged?
Set your budget, create a preliminary guest list, and book your venue. Once the venue is secured, you can confidently reserve your photographer and other key vendors.

How far in advance should I start planning my wedding?
Most couples begin planning 12–18 months before the wedding. This gives you the best chance of booking your preferred venue and vendors while planning at a comfortable pace.

What is the most commonly forgotten wedding task?
Many couples overlook small but important details such as vendor meals, gratuities, marriage license deadlines, and creating a family photo checklist. Preparing these in advance helps your wedding day run much more smoothly.
